Orlando Ticket Saver Guide to Disney's FastPass+

How to use Disney's FastPass+

We've put together a handy guide with everything you need to know about Disney's FastPass+ including the rides you really need a fast pass for...

When you buy your Walt Disney World tickets, you'll get Disney's FastPass+ service included completely free of charge! This amazing feature lets you make reservations for some of the most popular Disney rides, shows and character meet and greets, so that you can skip the regular queue and avoid waiting in line. Wondering which rides you should use Disney's FastPass+ for? We've put together a handy park-by-park guide with everything you need to know about Disney's FastPass+ to make planning your Disney holiday hassle free.

What is Disney's FastPass+?

Disney's FastPass+ is included free with all Disney theme park tickets. This fantastic service lets you make three FastPass+ reservations in advance per day (you can make more later!), and this means that you'll be able to skip the regular queue and avoid any long lines. Sounds good, right?

What's even better, is that you can make your reservations before you even leave home! That's right, if you're staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can start making FastPass+ bookings from 60 days in advance, and if you're staying off-site you'll be able to make reservations 30 days in advance.

How should I use Disney's FastPass+?

If you're planning a visit to Walt Disney World, the WORST possible thing you could do, is not use Disney's FastPass+. This free service helps you make the most of your time at the parks and lets you skip the lines, and who doesn't want that?

We have three top tips for using Disney's FastPass+
  • Make a rough plan of which park you plan to visit on which day so that you can make your reservations.
  • Use Disney's FastPass+ for the most popular rides as these always have the biggest queues.
  • Make your reservations as soon as possible, so that you don't miss out. It's a good idea to make a note of the date and time the FastPass+ reservations become available for your trip, so that you don't forget.

What rides do I need Disney's FastPass+ for?

With so many amazing rides to choose from it can be hard to know where to start, but don't worry because we've got you covered! We've put together a park-by-park guide of the rides and attractions that are worth using your FastPass+ reservations for. Read on to make your holiday planning much easier...

At the Magic Kingdom, there are no FastPass+ tiers, which
means you can choose any 3 participating rides.
Here are some of the most popular attractions that we
think are worth using your FastPass+ reservations for...

This is by far one of the park's most popular rides. It's a family-friendly coaster that's great fun. Use FastPass+ to avoid the queues!

Space Mountain is an exciting attraction that sends you on an exhilarating adventure into space. This is another of the park's most popular rides and we'd recommend using FastPass+ if this is at the top of your list.

Haunted Mansion is one of the park's opening day attractions and it's still as popular today as ever! Don't worry, there's nothing too scary, but it's well worth a ride on this iconic ride.

If you're travelling with little ones that are too small for some of the rides, or you're all about the characters, you might want to make a FastPass+ reservation for this character encounter. After all, a visit wouldn't be complete without meeting Mickey!

This ride is a fan favourite, which means you should be prepared to wait in line to ride, unless you use FastPass+ of course! Embark on an exciting journey to Neverland and come face to face with Captain Hook!

If you love the thrill rides, you're going to want to put this on your must-do list. Splash Mountain is one of Disney's most iconic rides, so use FastPass+ for this to save time.

Magic Kingdom FastPass+

All of the Disney theme parks use tier systems for FastPass+ except the Magic Kingdom, which makes choosing which rides you want to go on a lot simpler. Although with so many fantastic attractions at the park, you'll still have a tough decision to make.

At Disney's Animal Kingdom you can book one tier 1
attraction and two tier 2 attractions in advance, or three
attractions from tier 2 if you're not choosing any from tier 1.

Here are some of the most popular attractions that we
think are worth using your FastPass+ reservations for...

This is one of our favourite rides at the entire Walt Disney World Resort. It's also extremely popular with guests, so using FastPass+ for this is a must. You'll get to fly on the back of a Banshee over the stunning world of Pandora!

This is the other ride you'll find at Pandora - The World of Avatar. If you're visiting with young children this is a great choice as there are no height restrictions. We'd recommend riding both Pandora attractions, although you'll only be able to use FastPass+ for one, so choose wisely.

If you like to think of yourself as a bit of a thrill-seeker, you have to try this ride! It's one of the most popular rides at the park (and also the scariest!) so use FastPass+ to avoid waiting in line.

Kilimanjaro Safaris is an amazing attraction that lets you embark on an exciting expedition where you'll get up close to more than 35 species of beautiful animals.
This attraction is popular all day, so use FastPass+ so you don't miss out.

Prepare to get very wet on this fun-filled ride. This is one the whole family can enjoy together and you'll be laughing the whole way round. This ride is really popular with guests so we'd suggest making a FastPass+ reservation to save time.

Disney's FastPass+ isn't just for the rides. You can also use it to reserve the best seats in the house for some of the most popular shows. It's well worth using FastPass+ for The Festival of the Lion King, so you get the best view of this stunning performance.

Disney's FastPass+ Animal Kingdom

At Disney's Animal Kingdom, the attractions are separated into two tiers. Ever since Pandora- The World of Avatar opened at the park in 2017 this has been one of the most popular areas to visit. There are 2 incredible rides in this land but unfortunately, they are both in the same FastPass+ tier, which means you'll have to choose between them. We'd recommend making a FastPass+ reservation for Avatar Flight of Passage mid-morning and heading straight to Na'vi River Journey as soon as you arrive at the park. You can then choose two attractions from tier 2 to enjoy afterwards.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios you can book one tier 1
attraction and two tier 2 attractions in advance, or three
attractions from tier 2 if you're not choosing any from tier 1.

Here are some of the most popular attractions that we
think are worth using your FastPass+ reservations for...

Slinky Dog Dash is one of the newest rides at Disney's Hollywood Studios and you'll find it in the new Toy Story Land! This family-friendly coaster is already a hit with guests, so we'd suggest using FastPass+ if you want to experience the thrills.

This incredible ride is an absolute must for any thrill-seeker. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the most famous rides at Walt Disney World and a visit wouldn't be complete until you've braved it. Use FastPass+ to avoid the queues.

This is another one of Disney's iconic rides. You'll go from 0-60mph in less than 3 seconds (if you're brave enough that is!) while the music of Aerosmith blasts through the speakers. We'd definitely recommend using FastPass+ for this one to avoid waiting in line.

Alien Swirling Saucers is another new attraction in Toy Story Land. Fans are desperate to try it out, so if you want to as well, we'd recommend using FastPass+ as this is extremely popular. Get ready to zoom through the galaxy to escape from "The Claw".

If you're a Star Wars fan, you must use FastPass+ for this incredible ride. You'll come face to face with some of your favourite characters and a few of the villains too! It's a good idea to use FastPass+ for this one as it's really popular with guests.

Another Toy Story Land attraction to make it onto our list and one that definitely deserves a place! This ride is extremely popular, which of course means you can expect to queue for some time if the park is busy. Use FastPass+ to avoid the queue and get ready for an amazing 4D adventure where you score points for hitting Toy Story targets!

Disney's FastPass+ Hollywood Studios

The FastPass+ tier system at Disney's Hollywood Studios has recently changed. This is so that guests can now make reservations for the park's newest attractions in the brand new Toy Story Land. Tier one is now entirely dedicated to the Toy Story Rides- Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania. This means, that for now, you can only make a FastPass+ booking for one Toy Story Attraction. All three are great rides, so choosing between them is going to be hard. You could use FastPass+ for one of the new rides, as the queues are likely to be longer here and then ride the other two either first thing in the morning when the park is at it's quietest or when the evening shows are on, as most guests will be in a different area of the park.

The good news for thrill-seekers is that two of Disney's most famous rides are in tier two and you can use FastPass+ for both of them. We'd recommend booking a reservation for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in advance as you won't want to miss out on these.

At Epcot you can book one tier 1
attraction and two tier 2 attractions in advance, or three
attractions from tier 2 if you're not choosing any from tier 1.

Here are some of the most popular attractions that we
think are worth using your FastPass+ reservations for...

Test Track is the fastest ride at Walt Disney World, so if you're all about the thrills, make sure you give this a go. You'll race around the track at speeds of up to 65mph! This is one of the park's most popular rides, so if you really want to try it, make sure you use FastPass+

This popular ride has been a fan favourite for years, but it was recently given a makeover, transforming it into something even more impressive than before. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to fly, this is the closest you can get! Use FastPass+ to avoid waiting in line.

Visting with children? If the answer is yes, you have to ride Frozen Ever After! This ride is so popular, it can often have long queues, but if you make a FastPass+ reservation in advance you can avoid the wait.
*Also recommended for big kids!

Mission Space lets you experience the surreal feeling of journeying into space. You can choose between two missions for totally different experiences.
One is for thrill-seekers, while the other is family-friendly so everyone can ride. Use Disney's FastPass+ if you want to see what this is all about.

Spaceship Earth is an iconic symbol of the Epcot park and is instantly recognisable around the world. You might not even know that there's actually a ride inside! You'll get to go back in time and travel into the future on this one-of-a-kind attraction.

This ride is great fun for the children, but also something that the whole family can enjoy. It's a unique attraction that lets you interact with Crush from Finding Nemo. You can ask him any question you like and he'll answer straight back. If you're visiting with the family put this on your FastPass+ list.

Disney FastPass+ Epcot

Epcot is another park that uses two tier systems. We actually think that it's harder to make decisions when it comes to FastPass+ reservations at Epcot, than it is at any other Disney park. This is because three of the park's most popular rides are in tier one, so you'll have to choose between three great rides- Test Track, Soarin' Around the World and Frozen Ever After. If you're a serious thrill-seeker you'll want to choose Test Track, if you want something a bit tamer but equally impressive, go for Soarin' and if you're visiting with little ones, we'd suggest choosing Frozen Ever After.

You're then free to choose two more attractions from tier two to enjoy. Turtle Talk with Crush is a must for the kids!

FastPass+ questions
  • How many reservations can I make each day?
You can make 3 FastPass+ reservations in advance, but once you've used all three, you can then make as many as you like one by one. Simply book another, enjoy the ride, book another and repeat!
  • When can I start using FastPass+?
If you're staying at a Disney Resort Hotel you can start using Disney's FastPass+ service up to 60 days in advance. If you're staying off-site you can start making bookings 30 days in advance. You can make reservations from 7am (Eastern Time) so make sure you make a note of the time and date beforehand, so you don't miss out.
  • Do I have to make my FastPass+ reservations in advance?
No, you don't have to do this, but lots of people do so if you leave it until the day, you may miss out on your first choice.
  • Can I change my FastPass+ reservations?
Yes, you can. You can use the free Wi-Fi in the Disney parks to make changes at any time.
  • Can I make FastPass+ reservations for my whole group?
Yes! You can use the My Disney Experience App to link your tickets with other members of your group. Then when you make your FastPass+ booking just select the names of the other people you want to include.
  • Do I have to use my FastPass+ reservation at a certain time?
FastPass+ reservations mostly have a one-hour time slot and you can choose what best suits you from whatever is available. You then have a one-hour window to use the reservation. This is handy, because it gives you more flexibility. This means that if you're having fun on another ride, you won't have to worry about rushing to make it in time!
  • Can I make FastPass+ selections for more than one theme park in a day?
When making your three FastPass+ bookings, they must all be at the same park. However, if you have a park to park ticket, you can make additional reservations for another park once you've used all three of your initial reservations.
